Richard Barone builds infectious pop songs around melodies that jangle from his guitar, easy flowing rhythms and a plaintive vocal style. Barone made his mark on the music world with the Bongos in the early 1980s. The band released a handful of critically acclaimed singles and two full-length albums before disbanding in '85. Barone's post-Bongos work tends to add layers to his former band's more stripped-down Power Pop for richly arranged, lush Singer-Songwriter pop. At the core of his solo work, however, is the same surefire pop sensibility that put Barone on the map with the Bongos.
