ABAIR,MINDI Vinyl Records and CDs
One of contemporary jazz's biggest stars, the multitalented Mindi Abair plays saxophone and other instruments, sings and writes the majority of her material. Raised in a family of professional musicians, Mindi Abair started playing music at five and became an in-demand studio musician at a young age. Abair, who possesses a natural, So Cal beauty, built up a huge following on the Internet for more rock orientated material before getting signed by a major label. Buoyed by her more-muscular-than-usual saxophone style (inspired chiefly by David Sanborn), Abair's GRP Records debut, It Just Happens That Way> (2003), went to No. 3 on the contemporary jazz charts and spawned a number of FM radio hits. Abair quickly followed this up with Come As You Are, which added large doses of her adult alternative-style rock vocals and guitar work to her smooth jazz sound.
