Notes
This album was, indeed, recorded live at the Fat Cat Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Nadine Jansen Trio took their place on the stand during a mid-week night, and proceeded to tell those assembled just what was happening.

It was a groove to see the tables of folk self-consciously shift in their seats as they made every effort to become a perfect audience. They were so intent on being an asset to this tremendously talented lady and her sidemen, that they very nearly failed to listen.

So did I.

But, very nearly... not completely.

By the second set everyone had forgotten the tape machines whirring away in some secluded corner upstairs, and began to punctuate the Trio's artistry with appreciative comments and applause.

By the time we reached "Green Dolphin Street" the audience had shed all its reservations and barely noticed the pause to change tapes.

If you've never before heard the Nadine Jansen Trio those of us in Phoenix have known and loved these several years, then this album will give you 9 live reasons why.

Pay particular attention to Nadine's vocal treatment of "McArthur Park" ...now that I've heard her do it, I've gained another understanding of the tune...

...notice, too, the Nadine Jansen Trio original "Mon Petite" and the great rendition of "Classical Gas"* which showcases each of these three capable performers.

Also included are two "production numbers" for which Nadine is justly famous: Medleys from "The Graduate" and "Fiddler On The Roof." For Dixieland Jazz, there is a fast and driving version of "Sweet Georgia Brown."

This is an album for enjoyment... a joyful journey to the Fat Cat. Those who've made it will recall, while listening to these two sides, the pleasure of hearing Nadine Jansen who sings, plays the piano, and takes solos on the trumpet and flugelhorn, while still chording on the piano!

With her is Bob Graham on guitar and bass (he even uses the bow at points!) and Ed Ravenscroft, an exciting percussionist on drums, congos
