Recorded on April 27, 1970 at National Recording Studios, New York City, except the 'Portraits'. They were recorded on May 13, 1970. This session took place without Johnny Hodges on alto saxophone; he died on May 11, two days before the session.

The sleeve was printed in the USA. Quite often issue pressed in Canada, was granted a sleeve printed in US.
