*** This is one of those releases that the music forces your feet to tap away automatically. Side 1 is more instrumental whereas Side 2 contains plenty of delicious vocals all with the Afro-Cuban Orchestra. Although I use a stereo cartridge the sound, especially on Side 2, is very spacious & at times sounds more like stereo. I'm sure that the use of a mono cartridge will result in even bigger sound. One cut has a spectacular percussive intro that merges into an exotic Cuban twist to a familiar tune. This is Machito's take on the theme from the old Dragnet TV show. This album, especially side 2, rocks. Fabulous! 1950's 1st Edition: This LP is a 1st edition 1956 Seeco Records mono release (gold labels w/black print, deep groove) with the 1st edition album cover. Later edition covers but had Machito's face & included a reissued LP with a different label from the original gold/black label. The rear of this album cover has content notes in English and are duplicated in Spanish.
