Despite a gritty voice that sounds touched by hot lava, Steve Forbert lets fragile lyrics drop from his lips as slowly and triumphantly as saliva falling from a victorious boxer's mouth. This Americana veteran's 19th long-player is exquisite, especially "Wild as the Wind," a song about Rick Danko of the Band.
