Phil Keaggy is impossible to pigeonhole: he's an appealing acoustic presence falling somewhere between Leo Kotke and Eric Clapton, but with several stylistic detours along the way. Almost overnight he jumped from playing with Alice Cooper to being a part of early Christian music founders Love Song, and in the process he developed into a rare breed: a true, gritty, soulful musician nesting in an industry still trying out new chords.
