He also joined Campbell-Connelly music publishers, and functioned in an A&R role, as well as becoming a director of the company.. In January, 1969 he left Campbell-Connelly and formed Mother Mistro, which was acquired by Scotia Investments in April, 1971. Collier remained with the company following the acquisition. In 1970 Mother Mistro was involved with the creation of .
Collier then joined in 1972. Carlin Music formed Solid Gold Records in 1973 and made Collier a director and acquired an ownership interest in .
In 1976 Collier and David Watson, both of whom worked for Carlin formed the label.
