Radio personality Bob Rivers started recording song parodies in 1984. His debut single, "Breaking Up Is Hard On You (Don't Take Ma Bell Away From Me)," found its way to number 70 on the charts, and though it missed the Top 40 it piqued Rivers' interest in the parody medium. He tried again with Twisted Christmas. After those seasonal songs garnered plenty of airplay, several Christmas parody albums followed, with timely titles such as "Have Yourself An Ozzy Little Christmas" and "What If Eminem Did Jingle Bells.
