| Nyam Nyam from Hull released their own self-produced and self-financed single "When We Can't Make Laughter Stay" in 1981. New Order's Peter Hook found a copy of the single at Cargo Studios and arranged for the band to record demos for Factory Records. They were eventually snapped up by 4AD and Beggars Banquet affilliate Situation 2. Factory Benelux eventually released Hook's mix of "Fate" as a 12" single. On Situation 2 the band issued album Hope of Heaven and an EP, The Architect, before disbanding.
Vocalist Paul Trynka went on to edit quality music magazine, Mojo. A new track, Doubt, was recorded for the CD reissue of Hope of Heaven in 2012.
