Denver's Fluid threw a rod just as they were reaching fifth gear, scuttling one of the finest Grunge bands to ever emerge outside the overcast purlieus of Seattle. Roaring with all the fire of MC5 in the belly, on their final album Purplemetalflakemusic (1992), Fluid left Grunge's murky, plodding tendencies in a cloud of exhaust. It's a shining example of sweat-soaked Detroit Garage Rock slathered in growling guitars and backfiring beats.
