Shove came out swinging like an angry, almost Punk approximation of Velocity Girl, interspersing twinkling guitars and huge, injured guitar sounds to complement their enthused fare of Indie Rock hooks and exaggerated dynamics. In atypical fashion, Shove fused Emo's intensity and distorted octaves with Indie/Twee Pop-ish charm as few have or probably ever will. Omnibus Records founder Mark Kaiser set fire to bass tones in tandem with Shove's singing/songwriting noise insurgent Jennifer S, creating a dense, syrupy wall of noise a la Track Star, or perhaps Syrup USA. Careening guitars bristle in stark contrast to controlled vocal melodies -- one of Shove's most attractive features. Now defunct, Kaiser continues to operate Omnibus, home to fine past and present releases from Henry's Dress, Mates of State, and the excellent Torpedo.
