GOVERNOR Vinyl Records and CDs

governor

R&B singer and musician, born and raised in Charles City, Virginia. Formed an R&B group called Case Closed and moved to New York City yearning for success. When the group disbanded, he tried to make it on its own. Warlock Records signed Governor eventually and he released his debut album "Another State Of Mind" in 2000. At that time he met the influential executives/producers Trackmasters, while he changed his style from R&B to hip-hop. 50 Cent was signed to the Trackmasters at that time as well, and Governer and 50 recorded about six songs for a prospective album called "Best of Both Worlds" which was never released. After the split-up with Trackmasters in 2002, Governer met Wyclef Jean who helped him sign a deal with Atlantic Records. He even made a dozen of songs with Dr. Dre for his debut album on Atlantic, but frictions between Aftermath and Atlantic made those songs never see the light of the day. His debut was finally released on Atlantic's sublabel GrandHustle and is called "Son Of Pain". Just Blaze, Scott Storch, Wyclef Jean, and Raphael Saadiq produced (among others) tracks for that album. The Governor labels his music as "Soul Folk".
