It's no surprise that Kimmie Rhodes has one of the sweetest and most powerful voices in Americana; she began singing with her family Gospel trio at the tender age of six. Her songs have been covered by the likes of Trisha Yearwood, Wynonna Judd, and even the redheaded stranger himself, Willie Nelson -- with whom she duets on his 1996 album Just One Love. Her songs are mostly wistful Country-Folk musings of astral melody, with flowing changes and lovelorn lyrics. Here we find Rhodes singing with Willie again as well as Waylon Jennings and the late, great Townes Van Zandt. Much like Van Zandt, Rhodes has an otherworldly ashen voice that only seems to get better with age.
