Manchester's largest secondhand record shop
Vinyl Exchange opened in Manchester in 1988 and is now the largest seller and buyer of rare and second-hand CDs, records and DVDs in the north-west of England, with an increasing global presence through our website.
Our shop is at 18 Oldham Street, at the heart of Manchester's rapidly expanding Northern Quarter. This shop has two floors of CDs and records. We have a team of staff who know their specialist areas like the backs of their hands.
These include rock and indie, metal, punk, alternative, experimental, industrial, psychedelic and soundtracks. We also have an entire floor exclusively devoted to dance music, with a large team who specialise in hip hop, house, techno, electronica, rave, jungle, r'n'b, disco, soul, funk and reggae. In addition we deal in jazz, blues, folk, country, world music... in short, pretty much every style of music there is.
We have a fully database driven website with shopping cart and secure ordering available. 1000s of items are listed with many more being added on a daily basis..

Our vinyl stock is generally in Excellent condition, all gradings on the site are shown in the format: sleeve first, item second (eg EX/VG), and our specific grading guidelines (based on the Record Collector Price Guide system) are as follows:
Unplayed - record, sleeve, inner sleeve and any inserts are all as new, and label has no spindle marks on the label.
Record has been played, but shows no audible or visible sign of wear; packaging may show signs of slight wear through general use.
A well-loved record - shows visible signs of use (such as surface marks or spindle marks on label) or audible signs (surface noise, slight stylus wear); sleeve may have some cover wear, but no serious damage.
A well-worn record - visible and audible scratches, label wear, and noticeable damage to the sleeve (split seams, creasing, tears due to sticker removal etc.). Payment
