Grading Grades are given in this manner: Mint (M): An item can only be described as mint if it looks as if it just left the factory. Item appears in every way to be un-circulated, unhandled and un- played with absolutely no hint of wear. We hardly come across any of these! Near Mint (NM): Item shows minimal signs of wear or usage. Minimal scuffing of item may be present but hardly noticeable. Item may have been played occasionally but was always treated with the care. Album covers and picture sleeves will show the most minimal of wear. Record Collector uses the term excellent for these. Excellent (EX): Seeing as we are now carrying many more releases from England and abroad, we've decided to add the grade of excellent to our grading system. This grade has been employed by Record Collector magazine and their price guides for English vinyl pressings and is familiarly used by dealers and buyers of international releases as well. We are basically defining excellent as the area between VG and NM. So what this means for future reference that anything previously graded as VG++ will now be graded as EX with a plus or minus still used for greater specification. Very Good (VG): Item shows signs of more moderate use and wear. Records will have been played, but not damaged or abused. Surface noise will be more apparent. Jackets and labels will also show moderate to frequent usage. Good (G): Item shows signs of heavier usage and wear. Vinyl has more significant surface noise. Jackets and labels are worn but not abused. Poor: Item looks completely manhandled by gorillas. We prefer to not deal these at all! All items can be upgraded by a (+) or downgraded by a (-).
