C Powers' sound is informed by years spent collecting records in Chicago, honing crowd control skills in the foggy clubs of London, and helping foster a small yet prolific community in the marshes of Savannah GA. Cici is the resident DJ for Savannah's own legendary House Of Gunt, a performance group challenging the culture and aesthetics of drag.
Cici's sets and releases combine elements of gay camp, anti-sophistication, extended turntable technique, and a sense of juxtaposition molded by a DJ career that has strayed from the traditional "club" spaces. Cici's work in organizing blends into their work as an electronic musician and DJ. The experiences they've had behind the decks and in organizing spaces have begun to meld. She has found ways to weaponize composition and audio in the contexts of organizing, protesting and disrupting. In turn, this work is informing their audio production, bringing the theme and energy of collective action into their music production and collaborations.
