Kenneth Gamble

Born August 11, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Sometimes called Kenny Gamble. Pioneering American songwriter, producer and humanitarian. Formed R&B label Philadelphia International Records (PIR) with Leon Huff in 1971 and created the "Philly Sound". PIR's stable included The O'Jays, Billy Paul, Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes, The Three Degrees, The Jones Girls and PIR's house band MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother) to name a few. Formed Mighty Three Publishing with Huff and fellow PIR songwriter Thom Bell. Renowned for his humanitarian works for both civic and charitable causes which continue today, notably the "[m=158209]" project. Involved in (and fined for) a payola scandal at PIR in 1975. Continues to write music with Leon Huff. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 (Non-Performer).
