Free Movement

Soul - pop vocal sextet, formed in 1970, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., the Free Movement comprised of: Godoy Colbert (formerly of The Pilgrim Travelers, The Pharaohs, and The Exits) Josephine Brown (formerly of The Five Bells of Joy) Cheryl Conley Jennifer Gates Adrian Jefferson and Claude Jefferson Sounding not dis-similar to the Fifth Dimension, (the six-member group), Free Movement hit in 1971 with 'I've Found Someone of My Own,' a Top 20 R & B hit on Decca Records. The group signed to Columbia Records and released a parent album the following year. The album reached number 167 on the Billboard 200 and number 26 on the Black Albums chart. 'The Harder I Try (The Bluer I Get)' b / w 'Comin' Home' was the follow-up single peaking at number 49 R & B, number 50 pop in early 1972. One further 45 was a cover of Stephen Stills' 'Love the One You're With.' The Free Movement never charted following the release of the second single.They released a sole album before disbanding. They had two hit singles, "I've Found Someone Of My Own" and "The Harder I Try (The Bluer I Get)".
