Died June 27, 2020 in Atlanta, GA, USA. The family surname was Coles. Nat was the first one to change it, then his brothers followed suit as they began their performing careers. Review: He may be influenced by his better-known brother Nat's smoky piano timbre, as well as Frank Sinatra's vocal phrasing but Freddy Cole has remained his own singer for decades. A warm, sensitive vocalist, Cole has been recording and touring since the early '50s but he's always suffered with unfair comparisons to his brother. And to this day, he's still releasing fine albums, most notably with Grover Washington Jr.
