Chuck Carbo

Brother of Chick Carbo. Hayward “Chuck” Carbo was an American R&B singer (1926-2008). He first came to fame as vocalist in the New Orleans group The Spiders. He is best known in funk circles for his classic 1969 single ‘Can I Be Your Squeeze’.

Review: Chuck Carbo's honeyed vocals first graced the Spiders, a seminal New Orleans R&B vocal group. These songs find Carbo partying like he did in the '50s, but with a little more Blues Rock thrown into his Cajun equation. His singing often slips into that peppered drawl so characteristic of his hometown.
