Bernie Lowe

American composer, pianist, bandleader, producer. Born: 22 November 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Died: 1 September 1993 in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, USA (aged 75). In 1955, he started with Teen records, then in 1956 with lyricist Kal Mann founded Cameo Records, later expanded into a subsidiary Parkway. Here he signed Ernest Evans, an unknown singer who changed name to Chubby Checker, thus Cameo Parkway becoming one of the largest independent labels in the US. Love has also helped launch and careers of Bobby Rydell, Dee Dee Sharp, The Tymes, The Orlons, The Dovells, among others.
