Hum Records, CDs and CD Singles Hum For a short period in the mid-1990s, it was actually feasible for a decent band to get a shot at the radio. Hum were such a band, whose chunky, feedback-ridden "Stars" was given more than a few moments in the spotlight. Sounding a bit like the rock-era period of the Smashing Pumpkins, the band had a fine mixture of fuzz and pop sensibilities and, of course, suffered from being marketed to less discerning fans of Grunge Pop, unfortunately splitting up in 1998.
