Matchbook Romance formed in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1997, playing tightly-wound emo-punk with the usual focus on inner strife and expressing pain through harmonized choruses and dramatic guitar moves. The band also incorporates a sharp melodicism that pushes their best stuff into punk-pop territory.
