His reign on the pop charts began in the early 1990s, when he discovered Kris Kross, producing their debut LP that sold over four million copies. He also contributed tracks to early TLC albums, and soon introduced the world to both Xscape and Da Brat. All recorded platinum records for JD's So So Def label.
