Yazbek offers a charming lifeline in the way of his meticulously crafted, intricate and quirky musical style. His songs are littered with short piano solos, downplayed keyboard tinklings and assorted party favor noises. All this provides a suitably plush musical bed for his clever turns of phrase. In a deadpan voice, he fires off oddball lyrics which covertly (and sometimes overtly) discuss infidelity and sex, primarily through animal analogies which make little sense alone, but become clear by song's end.
