Vanessa Carlton shares some stylistic company with big shots Alicia Keys and Fiona Apple but her music is more closely related to ambiguous Prog Rock influences than either. Songwriting-wise Carlton follows paths set by Fiona Apple but her keyboarded, heavily-orchestrated music often recalls Rick Wakeman and Pink Floyd.
