One of Pantera singer Phil Anselmo's many side projects, Superjoint Ritualis an extremely brutal thrash/hardcore/sludge metal hybrid. Everybody alwaysmentions how Hank Williams III plays bass for this band but the real draw isformer Eyehategod guitarist Jim Bower's presence. At their best, SuperjointRitual sounds like a more souped-up version of Eyehategod, with betterproduction values and the immediately-identifiable Anselmo shriek. At theirworst they sound like Phil Anselmo screaming his goddamned face off withblisteringly heavy guitars and stomp-your-head-in drums for support.
