Ohio's Gaunt have spent the majority of their career trying to avoid popular ideas about Punk while remaining resolutely absorbed in it. Beginning in the early 1990s, Gaunt came off as nihilistic, gut-wrenching two-chord Punk noise with a penchant for harmonizing. Soon their minimal, monosyllabic Punk gave way to a melodic side that showed they could grow and rock at the same time. Their newest record may find detractors due to the fact that it was released on Warner Brothers and that it's a much slicker affair in comparison to previous releases, but there's no denying their unrelenting energy and crafty songwriting.Find Gaunt cds and Gaunt records on Crypt Records. |
