Consolidated appeared in the '80s as a necessary advance for hip-hop, bringing unwavering left-wing politics to the foreground. The San Francisco trio of white men became radical voices for issues of class, sex and race using Industrial Dance-infused hip-hop as their vehicle. Unlike much political music, Consolidated have a pointed sense of humor, always the first to direct irreverence at their own positions.
