Considered "Hard Gospel" in the 1960s, this vocal quintet was one of the many groups combining traditional Gospel structures with dynamic soul and R&B instrumentation. Unlike many of their peers, however, the Five Blind Boys of Alabama added a stronger blues flavor, often favoring slow, soulful songs over the more energetic workouts performed by everyone else.
