It's funny what the music biz folks in Nashville will try and tell you what country music is. Indeed, Chely Wright's music is produced in Music City, and yes, her songs are slicker than a paint job on a new Saturn. Imagine your basic Top 40 or Triple-A marketing-calculated radio hit, dressed up with glossy twang from a computer-enhanced pedal steel and other pseudo-rootsy sounds, and topped off with a slightly nasal-toned, Sheryl Crow-esque singer with obvious vocal training. If this kind of New Country is your thing, you'll fall in love with Wright's music.
