Miklós Rózsa (April 18, 1907, Budapest, Austro-Hungarian empire - July 27, 1995, Forest Lawn, USA) was a Hungarian-born composer best known for his film scores. Rózsa studied the violin from the age of five and went to Leipzig to study music at the Leipzig Conservatory with Hermann Grabner in 1926. While living in Paris from 1931 and then in London from 1935, he was commissioned by Alexander Korda to write the score for film Knight Without Armour (1937). While composing the score for the film The Thief of Bagdad (1940), Rózsa moved to California and joined in 1948 the staff of MGM Pictures and remained with them until 1962 scoring many of the major productions of the fifties.
