John Schuller was signed to Motown and A&M at different times and worked with various funk and soul artists during the late 70s to 80s. Basically, he got fed up with the major labels as they were keeping him in the background; they didn’t let him release his own music, and just made him work on other bigger names. He self released the original of “Trust Me” to try to break out on his own. The original 12″ was hand promo’d out to DJs and he additionally got a few copies into a record pool in Los Angeles.
