Silver Apples were a duo based in New York who debuted a world of electronic drones, blips and possible alien origins to an uninterested public in '68. The band was characterized by their analog heavy sound (courtesy of Simeon Coxe's homemade, self-named synthesizer) which was made even heavier by the inclusion of more oscillating rhythms than you could shake a Thai stick at. Consisting of Danny Taylor and Coxe, the duo has become one of the many artists whose music fell on deaf ears at the time, only to become enormously influential to an ever-increasing group of sonic experimentalists. Luckily, the band has been able to reap the benefits of this by recording new material and becoming the subject of tribute records as well as reissues.
