Long Fin Killie Records, CDs and CD Singles

Long Fin Killie were a Scottish quartet that provided a marriage of seamless guitar playing and solid, fractured rock formulas. Using disjointed drumming and dark, but faded atmospherics, the now defunct band made art-pop that was as beautiful as it was wounded. The band would often incorporate their Celtic history into the music, while also using a myriad of other folk instruments. Despite their instrumentation, the music bordered on anarchic, being equally minimal, hard and frightening by virtue of its lack of release. The forceful rhythms would build and build, while the listener waited for the explosion that never occurred. Their originality in composition and anti-formulaic approach worked to reinvent a musical form heavy on tradition and low on actual experimentation.
