If you can get past the painfully lame album intro extolling Teena Marie's gangsta street cred, you'll discover a very respectable urban release. Marie was dethroned by the over-singing divas of the 1990s, but now that old school is the new sound, her laid-back style is perfectly in sync with the times (though the term "High Yellow Girl" went out decades ago).
