It took more than five years between Stone Roses' sparkling 1989 debut and this new follow-up, and at first it's difficult not to feel just a little let down. At the time of their debut, the popular British quartet were early alternative rock heroes. In the interim grunge has arrived, punk broke mainstream and what was once alternative now has become the new mainstream.
