This starts off with a few studio cuts (including an ode to Manhattan, the aptly titled "New York City") before delving into extended live tracks where Scott-Heron and collaborator Brian Jackson showcase their jazz-funk chops. After a few poetic live rants, GSH resembles Chris Rock's Nat-X character but at least he actually had loftier ideals beyond the wish to smoke crack in peace back then.
