Grading: I am now using "Goldmine Standard" grading. If you see symbols in the grading field of my listings, please see my old method of grading below. SS Still Sealed Never opened. Flawless, with no damage whatsoever.
NM/M- Mint Minus Has been opened, but is still nearly flawless.
VG+ Very Good Plus Vinyl: May have scuff marks and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly throughout, with only "barely detectable" crackles or pops. A slight noise at the beginning is allowable, but the remainder must be nearly flawless. CD: May have a few light surface scratches but play is not affected. Cover: May only have the slightest signs of normal wear. VG Very Good The majority of records (worth selling) fall under this grade. Vinyl: May crackle, pop or make other annoying noises, but only occasionally, never continuously, and not more loudly than the music being listened to. CD: More than a few surface scratches but play is not affected. Cover: Normal used cover wear such as ring wear and split seams. If there is abnormal damage such as tears or markings, but the seller still feels that it qualifies as a "VG", the damage must be described in comments attached to the item.
G Good Vinyl: May have continuous crackles, pops, etc... but not so loud as to make the music completely unlistenable or unenjoyable to the casual listener. CD: A few tracks may have problems with skipping. Cover: More than normal wear and tear.
F Fair I.e. Vinyl: Only one side playable
P Poor i.e. Only one or two songs on the whole album are playable.
THIS IS MY OLD METHOD OF GRADING (on older listings) There are two grade for each record: First is for the actual album and the second describes the shape of the cover and inner sleeve. Most of my records are in really good shape. Exceptionally good or poor shape will be noted.
For Vinyl: Mint (M) - plays and looks like new Near Mint (NM) - Nearly perfect with minor defects Very Good (VG) - Some surface scratches. Still plays well. Good - May have continuous cracks, pops, etc. Fair - Below average. Ie. only one side playable.
These Symbols Are Used To Describe Cover Condition On My Records: (AT symbol) Split Seam (on inner sleeve) ! Writing and/or label ~ Wear (bends or rips on cover, etc) * Cut-corner, saw-mark, drill hole & Inner sleeve is generic plastic or is missing
