Conditions and Grading
OUR GRADINGS ARE BASED ON THE U.K. RECORD COLLECTOR SYSTEM, NOT ON GOLDMINE. PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY BEFORE ORDERING.
Vinyl Singles: Please note that if a vinyl 45 comes in a picture sleeve, it will have the words 'Picture Sleeve' listed in the description. If there is a grading for the sleeve but the words 'Picture Sleeve' do not appear then the grading is for an ordinary company sleeve. If there is no sleeve grading at all then the single comes in a generic sleeve.
New Records are usually sealed and have never been played.
M=Mint As new, or almost new. Mint records look and sound as if they have either never been played or have, perhaps, been spun once or twice in the shop before being returned to the racks. CDs will look and sound as new. We often grade CDs as Mint- but rarely grade records this way even though they may look new.
Ex=Excellent Some signs of age and use; may have some marks, especially when viewed under strong light, and has obviously been played but has been handled well and is still in great condition. Plays with no significant surface noise. Sleeves may be slightly worn or creased, but only very slightly. CDs may have small surface scuff marks but will play perfectly.
VG=Very Good Noticeable marks but still plays well although there may be some surface noise, particularly near the beginning. Sleeves may have a little ringwear, slight marks or small tears. CDs may have surface scuff marks which are quite noticeable but will still play perfectly.
G=Good Signs of significant playing hours, with surface marks and grooves but despite some noise the sound should be intact without skips and jumps. Sleeves may have small tears and ringwear and other signs of age but are fundamentally sound. CDs will have many marks from being left out of their covers but there should be no deep grooves affecting play.
F=Fair Noticeably marked, scuffed and worn. Will play but will have clearly audible surface noises. Record's surface will show significant signs of use and the vinyl will be dull and lacking in lustre. Despite the noise you should be able to play the record right through and hear the music clearly. Sleeves may be torn, frayed or split along the seam and may have ringwear or be otherwise damaged. CDs will have lots of marks and scratches and may play on some machines but not on others ... buyer beware.
P=Poor Records in Poor condition will often be playable but the surface noise may be louder than the music. They are usually of value to completists or people who just want to hear a rare sound or own a rare record. Sleeves will be badly torn and frayed. CDs will have been used as frisbees but if they do play - they'll sound just like new (the beauty of the digital world). Of course, if they don't play, they won't play ...... buyer beware
In addition to gradings please note the following codes that apply to records and sleeves and may appear in various combinations:
WOL/S Writing on label/sleeve
TOL/S Tear on label/sleeve
SOL/S Sticker on label/sleeve
NC No Centre. (usually American 45s)

Return Policy
If you change your mind after your goods have arrived you may send them back within 30 days of receipt. You must contact us for a goods return authorisation number first. No goods will be accepted without this number. If you have simply decided that you don't want the order we will refund the value of the goods or credit the value against a future order. We regret that shipping charges are only refundable if we have made an error in the goods we have supplied.
Seller Information
--
Our standard policy upon receiving an order is to process the order immediately. In addition to the costs displayed on this site we charge the appropriate shipping costs based on weight plus a small charge to cover the Australia Post bubble pack bags, record mailers and other protective items that we use when shipping. Orders are always processed in Australian dollars. We then ship the item with an invoice and will send you an email advising you of the total cost. We process this way because experience shows that most people want to receive their goods with as little delay as possible however we are happy to hold your order and advise you of the total cost before we ship. If you would like us to do this please contact us, tell us where you live and what you'd like to buy, and we'll get back to you with a total cost. Please do not ask us to write 'Fragile' on your packages - this is often counter-productive and will not encourage postal workers to treat your records with any more than the usual care. If you are paying with Paypal we will acknowledge your order in the usual way through as well as sending you a notification from our own server, with the appropriate payment details. If you do not use a credit card we encourage you to use Paypal as payment by sending cash and postal orders can result in long delays, however we regret we cannot accept Paypal for most international orders unless a registered/trackable service is requested and this can often be significantly more expensive than standard airmail as the costs must also reflect our commission and fee payments for receipt of payment.
78s are exceptionally fragile items and require significant additional packing which can cause shipping charges to be higher than expected. Please ask for a quote if you are concerned about shipping 78s. Most of our 78s sell for $3 to $5 but a typical shipping charge to Europe may be over $30.
We do not ship credit card orders to countries that have high fraud rates - this includes the Balkans, Mexico, Indonesia and South America. If you live in one of these areas you can pay with Western Union.
PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT SECTION FOR YOUR PROTECTION:
If an item is lost in the mail we will ask the post office to start a trace but the Australian Post Office CANNOT TRACK STANDARD INTERNATIONAL AIR MAIL ORDERS ONCE THEY HAVE LEFT THE COUNTRY - unless you request the Pack And Track Service. Costs for this usually an extra $5-$7 and this is not available to some countries. Protection against damage and loss in transit can also be provided if you ask for extra cover (insurance) The cost of extra cover is $AUD9.60 up to $100 value and $2.50 for each additional $100 value thereafter. Alternatively, items can be registered which provides insurance up to $100. CDs and 45s are usually sent at letter-rate so to have these items covered it is necessary to ship them at full parcel rate. If you are buying a valuable 45 or CD this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as we cannot be responsible for items lost in transit if extra cover is not requested - although losses are not frequent. If you are concerned about this, please contact us for a quote before shipping. Registered parcel rates are available on request.
AMERICAN EXPRESS:
Our preferred method of credit card payment is Visa or Mastercard. We will accept Amex but regret we must charge a 3% surcharge to cover their fees.
VINYL LP OR CASSETTE TRANSFER TO CD
If you wish we can also provide a CD-R version of your LP. We will record your album onto CD for you, with appropriate track-splitting and noise-cleaning and print the title and tracks on the CD itself. We scan the front and back cover and print the front cover using high quality photographic paper so it looks just like the real thing. We also include a track-listing booklet. This service costs $AUD40 and if you would like a CD with your order please specify this with your shipping instructions. There may be a delay of a day or two while the CD is being created.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO MAKE FALSE CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS. THIS IS ILLEGAL AND WE WILL NOT DO IT.
