Big Church Fan..... Dont have just one or 2 favs ....way too many great discs by these guys. Marty and Pete create some outstanding textures and soundscapes with the music! Mr. Kilbey is a superb vocalist/lyricist.

Any fans of the group out dere?

Yeah, the biggest thing I ever knew was the same thing everyone else here in the U.S. knew: "Under The Milky Way". They weren't too successfully huge here, however, from what I undertand, were huge in the land of OZ........

The Church have had (most likely WILL) a very 'faithful' cult following in certain sectors of the US including yours truly....pretty much a fan for the last 26 years (the band started on the journey with their first album in '80 with drummist Richard Ploog)
The album 'in question' that 'UTMW' is from 'Starfish' (the album produced by Waddy Wachel in L.A. with all the coke floating about at the tyme) Those who know the group most likely know that one....'Reptile' (Track 3 Side 2) was also popular.

Always liked how the band changed from album to album and DIDNT stick to a 'hit formula!!!' (Though Starfish and the one after it, 'Gold Afternoon Fix' were rather commercial sounding but nevertheless still musically invigorating!)

Releases such as 'Hologram of Baal' 'Uninvited by the Clouds' 'Forget Yourself' 'Sometime Anywhere' (Peter Koppes left the group for a spell) '#23' (the last two have secured on vinyl!) and the earliest, like 'Seance' are extremely fresh sounding to these ears!

Havent gotten around to mention each of their solo works either...incredible! These guys are forever putting out stuff under their own names/band name/other 'group' names (All About Eve/Jack Frost/Hex/Mae Moore)/touring constantly under their own name/band name/other group names.....

Have seen the Church twice in concert....once in 1990 (Atlanta Ga) and 1999 (Memphis Tn) (the latter was for their 'covers album' (that featured toons by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band/Television/Iggy Pop/the Monkees/George Harrison/Neil Young and several others)

Def one of my favrave 'rock bands' (though I would hardly classify them as such....more of the quite eclectic to be more exact!)

Well here in Argentina there's a big cult of Church followers: me and my friends (just joking).

Priest = Aure is definitely one of the best albums by them.

As far as I know the Church are touring playing three complete albums: Starfish, Priest and their last one (wich is also very good).

Other personal favourites:

- Of Skins and Heart (of course, their first)
- Heyday (BEST!!!)
- A Box of Birds (How a covers album should be done)
- Sometime / Anywhere (their Sgt. Peppers)
- El Momento Descuidado (How an unplugged should be done)

Greetings to all Church fans around the world!

I have a handful of Church albums. I think I enjoy Priest=Aura the most ...though of Skins And Heart has taken some prominence since my daughter had open heart surgery back in July to correct a septal atrial defect (ASD) ...a hole in the heart.
