Mostly what happens to me is when I find a warped record inside a sealed obscure metal album from the 80's, due to a lower grade quality vinyl! Yes, sometimes inside sealed records, you never know what you could find inside! Sometimes I may even ask the seller/dealer ahead to open the record up before they send it out to make sure it isn't defective. Hey, the worst they can say is no, and then have to end up sending the record back anyway, when they could have just inspected it, prior to them sending it out in the first place. By doing this, the seller may not always understand that this is always a very cost effective way of doing things.

I agree with VJ. A while ago I purchases a sealed record in a gatefold cover. Apparently, the record slid into the fold a bit and over time developed a raised edge that would not track at 1.5 grams. So I'm very cautious about buying sealed records in gatefolds.

right you are john..
in my experiance i had that happen where the lp
was like a roller coaster .. one time i bought wings over america
4 times..well 1 time and had to return it each time ..
it seemed there was a defect..the first song always skipped ..dont know
why it seemed to look fine..but..skipped..

Back when I was a newbie vinyl collector, I bought a used Rolling stones Black & Blue record
for a couple of dollars, without looking inside.
(I used to own it on cassette, & really came to dig that particular Stones album)
Imagine the horror when I discovered the record inside: Tina Turner private dancer!!!
Needless to say, I always slide out the vinyl for a look-see prior to purchasing,
no matter how cheap the record. Buyer beware!
