The Millon Dollar Hotel soundtrack has never been released on vinyl in 2000. In fact, the only analog format it has been released on is (of all things) cassette in 2000.
It seems unlikely that a soundtrack of this nature may ever see a vinyl issue of any sort. However, lately, stranger things have been getting reissued on vinyl that was, in previous years, considered cult status items, but yet somehow have received recent vinyl reissues! Just keep on the look out JBJ, you never know what could happen, since so many things that I never even suspected would get a vinyl reissue is now coming out.
The thing is though, with a soundtrack like, "Million Dollar Hotel", you would have to also consider that in order for a record company to see the need to reissue such a soundtrack in the first place, there would have to be some amount of supply & demand. And, since most bands or artists are in much more demand to be reissued on vinyl, then easily soundtracks made perhaps after the 1980's would be less likely to be in demand right now for the vinyl treatment.
In other words, major record companies might be more concerned about trying to get the next vinyl reissue of Michael Jackson's Thriller LP out before they would want to put out many post 90's soundtracks on vinyl. Given that most major film soundtracks are supported by artists or bands who are on major record labels to begin with, the last thing that might be on their minds is taking a slim chance on a soundtrack that may or may not sell on the vinyl format. It's all about what might sell, and if that means no profit margin, then chances are, this means you won't see it out on vinyl.......
Be patient though, keep on the lookout, as you don't know what the future of reissues will bring to you later on. Sometimes it takes a specialty reissue record label to put such things out on vinyl!
thanks for answering. Bummer though, but I sort off almost had guess´d what would come out off my query. I´ve check´d, ask´d & search´d high and low fore a couple off weeks now, with no success. Pity though, this soundtrack has that wonderful softness/mellowness, that does SO well on vinyl, especially if the master (the cassette......(!???:D...) is analogue too, this could then be very beautiful vinyl. But as you write, I should´nt give up hope, one never knows..... . Luckily the cd-release is excellent as cd, but still, my ears can´t help but "hear" how much better this would sound, if vinyl.
Maybe I should file a loving complaint on U2´s off. cite, since Mr. Bono seems to be all over this "Million dollar hotel"- project..:):):).
Good thinking JBJ. Perhaps Bono would consider something, but the better place to go would be to find out which record label put this out, or who owns the rights to the record label that put this out for that matter, and if the people who put this out has a website. Why not email them with your inquiry? Actually this does work, because I emailed Sundazed, which is a reissue record label for Psychedelic music, and they actually ended up reissuing the Left Banke 60's LP's on vinyl. So, you never know what the power of a voice can do.
