Vinyl Junkie 1200 posts 2.3 years
My finds to start off this week are:
Deep Purple-Come And Taste The Band(Good hard rock album with guitarist Tommy Bolin and David Coverdale on vocals)
Wishbone Ash-Pilgrimage(Good progressive rock stuff from England)
I will be looking forward to hearing about any of your purchases you would like to share this week...........
Here is a re-post from the first original thread, just in case anyone new may have missed this the first time around:
I am designing this thread to encourage everyone to discuss what their latest music purchases are. This is not just restricted to a specific format like CD, or vinyl. This can be about ANY CD, ANY vinyl, or ANY genre of music that you would like to discuss.
This discussion thread is also not just restricted to purchases on Music Stack either. If you would like to share with all of us what music you purchased at any place other than Music Stack, you can likewise share those too. When you post, share your thoughts, or maybe how the music sounds to you. It can be good, or bad.
I felt the need to create this thread just out of the sheer delight of music for music's sake. I also created this thread to engage everybody in a civil conversation about the music they love, and what it means to them. I just thought it would be fun to explore each others musical tastes. If we perhaps get turned on to something new that we would have never thought of trying before, then the ultimate goal of this thread has served it's purpose.
From time to time, I notice that when new things here get posted, the old posts are relegated to the bottom of this forum's page, eventually ending up on the next page as forgotten. My main goal will be to keep this thread alive as long as I possibly can! I will be re-posting this thread from time to time, ensuring that there will be a place where everyone can come to freely talk about music purchases. May this also encourage more friendships between ourselves in the Music Stack discussions forum.
I would love to hear what any of you have to share concerning your finds. If not Music Stack, then maybe perhaps another place where you found that nice piece you have on your want list, or otherwise.
Any input you would like to contribute will be great! Hope to hear from you all soon!! Thanks guys..........

Springsteen's Chimes of Freedom has been on my radar for some time. I just got it so I haven't even listened to it yet! I'll give it a spin tonight.
These are live tracks that were recorded in 1988 during the Amnesty International tour and as far as I know they are not available elsewhere, unless they are on some compilation. Tracks are: "Tougher Than The Rest", "Be True" (a B-side to "Hungry Hearts"), "Chimes of Freedom" (of course, a cover of Dylan's song), and an acoustic version of "Born To Run."

Great John, tell me what you think. I am anxious to hear about how it sounds and all. I might just have to add this piece to my Springsteen collection as well!

VJ, I suggest that you add this one to your list. The tracks are fantastic and the sound quality is too. "Tougher Than The Rest" stays true to the studio arrangemnet. "Be True" is one I had not heard before but is very much in the same spirit as the songs on The River. "Chimes of Freedom" is worth the price of the EP alone - an excellent cover by Springsteen. And the acoustic "Born to Run" is, well, different and interesting, but I prefer the full-band version. Still a good version.
Based on Bruce's introduction of the song "Chimes of Freedom" where he refers to the "upcoming" Amnesty International tour, I'm guessing that these songs were recorded prior to that event and not during the tour as I previously noted.

The last CD i bought was: ELEGANT STEALTH Wishbone Ash.
This is (sorry, was) my favourite group since 1973, when i bought their LIVE DATES album.
Wonderful albums until NUMBER THE BRAVE.
Their live albums (i have dozens of them) are really where Wishbone Ash brings their songs to "full blossom".
My favourite is LIVE DATES II.
Their concert in 1976 is still the best concert i have ever seen.
Their reunion in 1990, and the 3 albums the did (+some live albums) were again of top quality.
And the last one (for me) was: ILLUMINATIONS. TALES OF THE WISE offers among the best guitar playing i ever listened.
But what is this last CD? Why to repeat again and again, in so lower quality, if they have no more ideas and imagination?
What is the purpose of doing another CD, so much less inspired than what they already did, 30-40 years ago? MONEY, i guess.
But not MUSIC.
I love music, and they did about the best music that i know, and i know so many. Pity to become one0's caricature...
