Seller statistics
Statistics are gathered from the order statuses that you select from the drop down menus on each detailed orders page that you update. These statuses will be something like 'Available, Not Available, Cancel, Shipped, etc'. The whole idea behind seller statistics is to provide potential buyers with an idea of what to expect when dealing with you (good or bad).
How good your statistics are depend solely on how quick you are to respond to orders and how well you keep your inventory updated. The quicker you are and the more current you keep your catalog, the better your statistics will be.
Marking the order status of each order not only provides data for statistics, but it also is used to let buyers know the status of their order. Every time you change the status of an order an email gets sent to the buyer updating them about the status of their order. MusicStack also uses the order status you select to know which orders have been completed so that commissions can be collected on those items.
How Statistics Are Calculated Response Time - Time to First Customer Contact This statistic is calculated based on the amount of time it takes from when an order was first placed to the time when you to first select a status level for that order. Which status level you choose does not matter at all, just so that one is selected. This statistic is calculated based on an average of the last 180 days worth of data. Time to Ship - For Valid Credit Card Payments This statistic can only be accurately gathered from orders where a valid credit card is used to pay for the order. So for this reason, only sellers who accept credit cards can have a Time to Ship statistic. Only valid credit card orders are used when gathering up data to calculate this statistic. If for any reason you cancel a credit card order or send a 'Credit Card Failed - Send Details Again' status message to the buyer, that order is no longer used in calculating the Time to Ship statistic. This way you are only measured on orders where you have valid information from the start to process the order. This statistic is calculated based on an average of the last 180 days worth of data.
Fill Rate This statistic is based solely on whether you have an item in stock at the time of order. You will notice that the Available & Not Available statistics will always add up to 100%. Cancelled and Payment Failed status levels will not influence this statistic at all. The Fill Rate statistic is based on an average of the last 180 days worth of data.
Cancel Items/Orders Canceling an item/order will not affect any of your seller statistics. The system will treat cancelled items/orders as if they never existed. This works out great for orders where the buyer did not follow through, cancelled the order, or attempted fraud.
Marking Order Statuses You do not have go sequentially down the line when marking orders statuses (ie, first marking Available, then marking Payment Received, then finally marking Shipped). If you choose, you can go straight to marking the order as Shipped. But only mark this status if indeed you have the item in stock, you have received payment (ie, the credit card was valid) and you have shipped the item.
Improving Your Statistics If you are not happy with your seller statistics you will have to work hard at improving them by providing better service. Since stats are calcuated on the average over a 180 day period, as you perform better, older statistics will disappear and your newer (better) statistics will pull up your average.
