Soft Machine were among the first rock bands to dabble in free jazz, and as these cuts (a number of which date back as far as 1963) demonstrate, they were way ahead of the pack. Hardcore fans will undoubtedly hang on to every second of the LP; newcomers will get a taste for what this adventurous group would later achieve.
