The AHB material appeared on a number of different LPs back in the earl y 1970s The most common sources are the three AHB volume 1,2, & 3 LP s The original LPs were released on the Sagapan label Sagapan seem s to have released these in two different press runs The LPs are su b-standard quality Sometime after the Sagapan LPs were released, th ey were re-issued by the (pirate?) Joker label These LPs feature the same material as the Sagapan LPs, but with inferior sound quality a nd slightly revised front cover art (same portrait of Jimi, but diffe rent background color around the photo) For some odd reason they cho se not to remove the "Sagapan" logo, so covers have both the Sagapan a nd Joker logos Besides the AHB vol1,2,3 LPs, Sagapan also releas ed another AHB LP without any volume number It consists of a subset of the songs found on the vol1-3 LPs, but with different song names, and yet another mix/EQ Besides the Sagpan and Joker LPs, the AHB m aterial also appeared on a few LPs, the most noteworthy of which is t he "This Flyer" boot containing portions of jams 1,2,3, & 4 All t he LPs suffer from problems related to the source tapes, the LP masteri ng, and the pressing quality Many of the pops/clicks/crackles appear in the same place on different copies/versions of the LPs Some of them seem to be microphone/switch noises, but others seem to have ari sen due to the poor quality of the mastering and pressing (wear & da mage to the stampers?) Remastered from the best available sources, this set contains all the jams/songs found on the various LPs, althou gh where possible, tracks have been spliced back together to create a s-complete-as-possible continuous composites All tracks have been EQ ed, speed corrected and declicked Due to the different mixes and EQi ng found on the raw LPs, the source changes on the composite tracks a re often quite noticeable The best sounding version of each track w as used; that is, the best mix/EQ as well as the best available LP co py
