 Frankie J The One
| | You've gotta love Frankie J. The guy is like a young R. Kelly, minus the scandals and incriminating videotapes. Instead, you get pure R&B emotion, sliced thin and served up on a bed of surprisingly enjoyable production. What's not to like about the Wham! sample in "On the Floor"? Also check out "The One" and "Without You.
Too fresh-faced and sweet to give Usher a run for his money, this MTV-abetted soulster sounds like an American Idol winner without the adult-pop obligations. His second album is far too long on gentle, faceless crooning about the usual odds-beating hopefulness and an unnamed girl whose beauty makes him weep (rhymes with "can't sleep").
