Dr. Dog have a name that could have been lifted off of a psychedelic rock poster and a seriously retro sound to match. Equal parts Beatles, Beach Boys and the Band, the Philadelphia fivesome's ambitious third album is loaded with three-part harmonies, orchestral strings, heavy reverb and fuzzy guitars. Just a little more than a half-hour long, Easy Beat finds room for jangly midtempo rockers ("The World May Never Know"), soulful ballads ("Dutchman Falls") and weird pop experiments (the standout "Oh No").
